Maybe you are lucky. Oh and if you are a warlock you can get the class mounts from legion they are flying horses too. You can get the Hearthstone flying horse pretty easily. It’s not as badass as the Halloween one, but it’s still pretty cool. Hearthstone is a free game, I think you have to win a certain number of games to get the mount. The jungle is meant to be hard and intimidating. The mounts, particularly griffon, vaporize that threat. With that said, obviously don't torture yourself. If you feel like you're hating the game because it's too hard to get from point A to point B (something GW2 has a problem with in many areas) then getting the raptor at least might help you out.

First of all, Guild Wars 2 mounts are often mentioned in many respectable gaming media as the best mount system in any MMO. They do not trivialize each other and they are more than just fast travelers. They take skill, specially the might Griffon. I oppose against making the Griffon easier to fly.
Guild Wars 2 is a Great game. I have been playing the game for almost 15 years, since Guild Wars one. A flying mount can be added to the game in a safe way, just put restriction on this particular mount. One could be that you have to have all the other mounts before you can begin your quest for the flying mount.
Another interesting thing about flying: certain areas of the game are only accessible by flying, so you definitely want to put in the grind for those aether currents. And in some areas, entire sections of the map are locked behind MSQ (ahem, SB), so you can’t get all the currents until you progress later in the story.
Compete PoF story, max other mounts and swipe a card because there is no way for you to earn 250g in an instant if you never reached 80 and learned the game. And even if you do, it's not fast either. Then you'll notice that griffon is just glider on steroids

Main 2 factors are flashiness (trails while flying, effects, noticeability) Dye adaptability (how many different styles can you adapt on a single skin). Also I haven't seen a video of a redyed primeval griffon. So if someone has the time, I would really appreciate a short video of you showcasing this skin. What is the cycle of mount adoption
Not true, using updrafts to gain altitude would still be faster with gliding than with flying mounts. Much faster. OP's suggestion is that flying mounts gain endurance when passing through an updraft, not that flying mounts can use the updraft to gain altitude.

There is no need for another flying mount. What role would it fulfil? Unlimited infinite flying like in WoW or FF14? I don't think GW2 needs that. Arenanet would need to add thousands of additional invisible walls to make such a mount work, and that's not worth the effort and development time that could be spend on other things.

On that website, they specifically showed the default Skyscale to promote the fact that people can now get the mount itself in another (possibly a lot quicker) way. There's no reason to promote any of the other mounts with the "mini" expansion announcements, so there's no need to include them in the promotion material.
